At Street Level 140

 At Street Level

Harold Gomez gone but not forgotten

It was congressman Pete Visclosky who led the charge in Washington D.C.& we applaud his efforts. But over the years the wall over there is tarnished & in dire need of a facelift upon a closer look.

The gal @ Post Office on Kennedy gave me the bottom line. A. They only rent the building from a landlord. B. The Postmaster is the only one who can answer our questions. But were unable to contact the aforementioned men which made me try another initiative. StreetWise & source were watching The White Soxs hit 4 solo home run & lost the ball game. “Why don't you & your good texting ass text Frank Mrvan". He told me.

Mrs. Esperanza Gomez-Harold's mother is next to the monument. She went door to door raising funds for the monument.

James Hunter Senior Citizen Building -East Chicago.

U.S. Marine Harold Gomez from Block Avenue, heck my family living lived next door to his family. His mother used to dress in all black after he was killed in Viet Nam. She used to work as a crossing guard on Broadway and Alder by "baby park”, Just so you see her the way StreetWise had seen her. She started going door to door to raise money for a monument for our guys who died in the war. God love Jesse Gomez (Co- Signed) for her back in the day. She lived in the Hunter Building & she invited me up to her apartment & Street was honored "checked it out. Mrs. Gomez had a makeshift shrine for her son.

Continuation. Street took mental notes as he stood in front of a shrine. She put up to honor her son Harold. The photos from the time when Harold was a Marine brother. You had graduation pictures & some "pee wee pictures" of her son etc, etc; Baseball glove, baseball bat, basketball, football were perfectly laid out with Religious Icons incorporated into this shrine. There she was in her black blouse with a matching long skirt. "Here take it Harold would have wanted you to have them." She tells me as she offers bat & glove to me. Street told her that he couldn’t accept them. "He loved you as a little brother” She went on. And Street knew he had to tell this story about Harold Gomez & his mother. “Heck he the one taught me how to play cricket in the alley on Block and Pennsy." Street told some cat who told me his dad played cricket.

 BOLO - Congressman Frank Mrvan
